Underdog Autopsy Radio

It just so happens the first volume of Underdog Autopsy Radio is live. Posted it in the early hours of January 1st, 2011, finally have a streaming version of it for those who didn't want to wait to download it. Hate the first 40 seconds? No loss, move on with your life, yea?

That said, there will be monthly installments always on a theme. And they'll get better, I promise, this one was thrown together quite haphazardly on New Year's Eve and leaves, I admit, quite a bit to be desired.

Underdog Records: Pondering the Podcast

I can't seem to decide what to do, exactly, with the Underdog Records podcast, which I'd eventually like to begin posting once every month or two.

My initial purpose with it was rather detached from the whole business of selling records, in that I simply intended to make a cool mix of music every so often that showcased only songs which had never charted as singles in the U.S., whether they're old or new.

Most recently (read: today) it occurred to me that maybe it makes more sense to create a podcast which includes only songs pulled from the actual records I have online for sale.

Maybe I should do a little of both.

Any ideas? Or are you already so bombarded with podcasts and mixtapes and radio shows that you really couldn't care less because you're not going to be listening anyway?

Underdog Records

Finished recording last night a Dalton & Dubarri LP (Choice, 1979) to the computer, this morning begin work on processing and readying it for transfer to CD. First disco record I've heard which makes lyrical reference to watching The Late Show.

Following that, I will try to list a few records online for sale before I must leave at least one hour early to work and accomplish other maneuvers on the way.

I know it has been quiet here, and that's been for a good reason, but there may also be a significant change in the near future. Much nearer, honestly, than I'd planned it out to be, but the situation calls for expediency.

Record store/selling/collecting/listening/talking blog

I've started an Underdog Records blog. I've thrown it onto blogspot to start. If someone has a better idea it's certainly not too late to move it elsewhere. It was a decision based solely on name recognition for me... but if there were a better blog-type website with interesting features (free), I'd certainly like to take advantage of them.

     Anyhow, here it is: theunderdogrecords.blogspot.com.

     Happy football Sunday to all.

Please?

     Here's the lowdown.

I don't know whether any of you who read this do online downloads of music. Which is to say, legitimate downloads. I've downloaded plenty (maaaaany) records for free using torrents and Soulseek (especially 2005-2007), but I've also bought some MP3s from iTunes, Amazon, and other sites, so don't think I'm preaching.

There's a new indie alternative to buying your downloads from the iTunes, mp3.coms, and Amazons of the world. In fact, even if you don't live in North Carolina and get the opportunity to visit the record shop at which I work, you can help support us.

As of May 1st, meet THINK INDIE, a new MP3 download website with 320kb MP3s, indie exclusives, and even free downloads.

     Here's all I'm asking:

    1) Go to Think Indie via Plan 9 Music.
    2) Sign up for your free account to Think Indie, simultaneously attaching your account to my store.
    3) Bookmark ThinkIndie so that you remember it any time you need an MP3 download, whether you're buying only one song or an entire album.
    4) Smile thinking that each download you purchase, you're helping: A) indie stores in general, B) Plan 9 Music, the company for which I work, and C) helping Jonathan to keep a job he loves!

Soon all my music praisings will be linked to available downloads from this website. Maybe I'll even finally turn this LJ into a music blog like I've dreamed?

In the meantime, if you'd just sign up (for free) to their website using the link above... really, it'd warm my heart.

Help from NYC Area Folk?

I need some route help in case anyone's familiar with the region.

On Sunday this weekend, I'm going to be driving from the Allentown, PA (I-78) area to JFK Airport in New York City. Google Maps is telling me to bend north and take 495 across Manhattan. Looks to me like it'd make more sense to cut south down I-95 to I-278 instead and follow that along the nether region of NY to the airport.

Anyone have any insight one way or another?
